About BQG:

Our mission is to promote the love of quilts, to encourage and preserve the art of quilts and quilting, and to contribute friendship, knowledge and encouragement to others.

From a small group that was formed in 1978, we have grown to a large gathering of varied skills and talents - some members are beginners and others have years of experience. All have a willingness to share their talents with others.

BQG hosts a bienniel quilt show that highlights the best of our members' work. Community service includes demonstrations at schools and civic clubs, making comfort quilts, and many other activities. In 1995, the Guild sponsored its first retreat - a weekend of learning, sharing of ideas, and friendship. We continue to have these yearly weekend retreats, plus plan an occasional in-town retreat - a day set aside to work on any project the member desires with help and encouragement from all.

Guild programs and workshops feature a wide range of topics all with quilting in mind. Speakers may be Guild members, local teachers, or a nationally known quilter, writer, appraiser, or collector.

We are glad you are interested in the Birmingham Quilters Guild.
